GET TO KNOW ME
Why Am I An Instructional Designer?
All my childhood I thought I was going to be a professional dancer - my mom, who paid for the professional training, would back me up on this! But after realizing I didn’t want the lifestyle that came with being a dancer I looked at what my other talents could offer me in a career.
When I was tutoring one of my classmates on our algebra homework she helped me realize I had a passion for helping others gain understanding of a topic. Later I talked to my mom about this interaction and how I would love a job creating the materials for adult learners. She just smiled, rolled her eyes and told me to shadow her job tomorrow. That day I finally learned what my mom did and that I wanted to be an Instructional Designer too!
I am a creative thinker, with a passion for designing engaging and effective learning solutions by utilizing a blend of several modalities including web-based eLearning, instructor-led, coaching/mentoring, video, and document-based learning experiences.
What Do I Look For In A Company?
I am looking for a company where people are valued as much as the work they create. A place where collaboration, curiosity and innovation are encouraged - ideas can come from anywhere and everyone has a voice. I have a strong curiosity for emerging learning techniques and technologies like AI and gamification that I would love to engage with in my next role.
Since 2021, I’ve specialized in designing sales learning materials in the mortgage industry working with the largest mortgage company in America. My role has given me deep insight into how sales professional succeed. While my career so far has been rooted in the mortgage industry, the skills I’ve built are highly transferable. I’m especially interested in healthcare and insurance, industries where trust, compliance, and clarity are essential. Just as I’ve helped mortgage sales teams explain loans confidently, I can design programs that simplify complicated policies and procedures for employees and customers alike.
My Personal Values
I am a firm believer in being a forever learner. There is always something I can learn from every person I encounter. I take full ownership of my projects to make progress on my projects without being directed or micromanaged.
I thrive in fun, creative, dynamic, collaborative, and positive team environments. I crave a team with a strong average emotional intelligence, listening and communication skills.
